What happened to games in GCash
GCash’s help page on the change, titled “Suspension of Gaming access in GLife”, states it in one sentence: in compliance with BSP Memorandum M-2025-029, all licensed gaming top-up and withdrawal services were removed from GCash effective August 16, 2025, and the Games service is no longer available in the app.

What the memorandum covers
The Bangko Sentral’s memorandum is addressed to all BSP-supervised institutions, not only GCash. It defines in-app gambling access as any product or service that redirects an account holder to a gaming or gambling site, and it applies pending a policy that will set standards for online gambling payment services. Because Maya and the banks are BSP-supervised too, the same rule reaches their apps.
What is left inside the GCash app
Nothing gaming-related is left inside the app. GCash’s help page answers the common questions directly:
- Access to a gaming account — GCash says it is not a gaming app and tells users to coordinate with gaming merchants for access.
- A balance left in a gaming wallet — withdraw it through the licensed merchant’s own website and channels.
- A balance below the merchant’s minimum — the merchant sets that minimum, so contact the merchant.
The wallet still sends money to banks and other wallets, pays merchants and receives transfers, within its own limits.

GCash’s own limits page adds a practical layer. Since 1 October 2026 a Basic profile can hold up to ₱10,000 and receive ₱5,000 a month, while a Fully Verified adult profile can hold and receive up to ₱500,000 a month. Check the limits screen in your own app, because limits reset on the 1st of each month.
Maya and bank apps after the memorandum
The memorandum’s reach goes beyond GCash. It instructs all BSP-supervised institutions, which is why Maya and the banks also dropped in-app links to gaming sites. For you, the practical result is the same on every app:
- Open the casino lobby in your browser, not from inside a wallet or bank app.
